Software
Engineering - Image Processing for Wind Tunnel Dynamics
Acuity
has an opening for a software engineer developing a
system for real-time measurement of the motion of aircraft
and spacecraft models in transonic wind tunnels. We
have combined a laser pattern projection hardware with
a synchronized camera system, and have demostrated 6-DOF
determination of model pose. Phase 2 will build on this,
using multiple images and integrating the capabilities
into products for real-time computation of object motion,
vibration, and deformation. This work is being performed
under contract to Arnold Air Force Base, home of some
of the world's largest wind tunnels.
Projective geometry is used to determine relative motion
between multiple cameras and the model under test. The
measurement techniques to be developed will work with
passive video and painted surface markings as well as
with active laser pattern projection on unmarked surfaces.
Future applications include structural vibration and
strain visualization as well as automated manufacturing
inspection and quality control.
Requirements
Candidates
should have experience with several of:
Image and video processing tools and techniques
Projective geometry and multiview stereo reconstruction
Solid model and surface representation data structures
Optimizing processing algorithms for video rate execution
on multiprocessor systems
OpenGL or DirectX programming
UDP, TCP/IP communications
Visual C++ and Matlab development environments
A
Master's or Doctorate in CS or a related discipline is
required, along with experience on large software projects.

Aerospace
Engineering - Software - UAV Flight Controls
Acuity
is seeking an Aerospace Engineer with a strong background
in estimation, control systems and embedded software development.
This position includes development of control software for
unconventional air vehicles, maneuvering coupled to camera
observation and payload deployment requirements, and flight
control tolerant of actuator failures.
Requirements
Candidates
should have experience in the following areas:
EKF
development with extensive plant models
Control system design and implementation
Modeling air vehicle or robotic equipment dynamics
Embedded computer hardware and operating systems
Real-time software architecture
A
Master's or Doctorate in aerospace, robotics or a similar
discipline with concentration in estimation and control
is required, as is experience implementing embedded control
systems in autonomous vehicles. Candidates must also have
proficiency in preparing and presenting technical reports.
UAV
/ UAS Air Vehicle Prototype Integration
Acuity
has an opening for a hands-on engineer working
in unmanned aircraft systems development. This
position includes testing and installing avionics,
aircraft sensors, and aircraft wiring, supporting
flight tests of air vehicles, building and testing
prototype electronics, supporting PCB layout
and fabrication, defining assembly procedures,
and producing documentation for electronic systems.
Requirements
Candidates
should have proficiency in the several of the
following areas:
Aircraft/Aerospace vehicle systems work
Field
testing of robotic or air vehicles Shop
and power tool use
High-reliability
harsh environment connector and cable
assembly
SMT PCB population and rework
Schematic
entry and PCB layout software
A
BS degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical
engineering, or electronics is preferred,
with experience in a related field.
