IM-360

Miniature Solid State Inertial Measurement Unit

Using recently introduced quartz inertial sensors, precision 6 degree of freedom inertial navigation in less than 2 cubic inches is now possible. Acuity has developed AHRS and full IMU capability for use in applications requiring moderate cost high performance solid state orientation and navigation capabilities in a very small 5.5 cubic inch package.

Unlike the AH-360, the IM-360 makes no assumptions of the long-term roll roll and pitch rates of the platform. This make it appropriate for application where continuous rolling or tumbling motion can be expected, but unless the magnetic field derived stabilization is engaged, drift occurs in all orientation axes. When magnetic field use is enabled, the internal Kalman filter analyzes field stability and optimizes the attitude, heading, and delta velocity outputs from accelerometer, gyro and magnetometer readings.

In some areas, the earth's magnetic field provides reliable heading information. In others, man-made or natural features change the field too much for some navigation requirements. By enabling or disabling the use of its 3-axis magnetometer, the IM-360 can be used as a purely inertial vertical gyro (attitude reference system) or as a magnetic field stabilized attitude and heading reference system. When magnetic field use is enabled, the internal Kalman filter analyzes field stability and stabilizes the attitude and heading outputs by incorporating magnetometer readings.

AH-360

Attitude and Heading Reference System with Linear Motion

The AH-360 is designed for use in land, water, and some airborne vehicles where pitch and roll angles are are not rapidly and continuously changing. By using the earth's gravity and optionally its magnetic field, the AH-360 provides stabilized attitude measurements as well as linear motion measurements.

In some areas, the earth's magnetic field provides reliable heading information. In others, man-made or natural features change the field too much for some navigation requirements. By enabling or disabling the use of its 3-axis magnetometer, the AH-360 can be used as a purely inertial vertical gyro (attitude reference system) or as a magnetic field stabilized attitude and heading reference system. When magnetic field use is engaged, the internal Kalman filter analyzes field stability and stabilizes the heading by incorporating magnetometer readings.
